It doesn’t take a wish upon a star to get pizza this good! All you need to do is go to Pinocchio’s’ Pizza in Harvard Square. The pizza there is delectable and my nose won’t grow when I tell you that! Pinocchio’s Pizza is a small hole-in-the-wall pizzeria that has a lot more to offer than what meets the eye. From Neapolitan and Sicilian style pizzas to subs, salads, and pastas, Pinocchio's is a mecca for Italian comfort food.
Whether you like a Neapolitan thin crust pizza or a thick, doughy slice of Sicilian style pizza, Pinocchio’s has it! The menu boasts a long list of various toppings but I decided to go with the classic cheese pizza. The gooey, tantalizing cheese surprised my taste buds with a blend of herbs and a hidden zesty blanket of marinara sauce. The price surprised my wallet too…in a good way! A small cheese pizza costs $9.50 while a large one costs $13.95.
Even when you're sitting in a marginalized, closet-sized pizza restaurant on the outskirts of Harvard Square, the authentic pizzas take you right to Italy. They also offer a list of subs ranging from cheeseburger to eggplant parmigiana. Or if you're a pasta person, Pinocchio’s offers hearty baked ziti with various toppings at reasonable prices. And if you are in the mood for something light, they have numerous crunchy salads to choose from as well.
This is a warm, inviting and inexpensive Italian haven for all college students in Boston. There are murals on the interior walls of the restaurant which depict beautiful scenes from Pinocchio; my favorite is the scene with the whale. Pinocchio's left me wanting more and I can’t wait for my next visit and once you experience Pinocchio’s you’ll understand what I mean.
